Some days are just made to be lazy, and today was just like that. Cold, windy, grey, no whispers of sunshine beckoning us outside. So I gave in to temptation and spent most of the morning in bed ploughing my way through a book and several pots of tea.
When I finally got up, for once I didn’t feel like cooking, so I was really grateful that my daughter is currently obsessed with making her own fried eggs, as she helped herself to lunch and the most I had to do was add a mango and kiwi smoothie to her meal (just to balance it out) and finish off the washing up.
I was also really grateful that I had made a fresh Cinnamon and Raisin Loaf yesterday afternoon, which was the perfect lazy mid-afternoon snack for 3 perfectly lazy people who spent the afternoon lounging around playing monopoly.

A fresh pot of tea and a plate of hot buttered, sweet cinnamon toast, and I didn’t even mind that I lost hopelessly. I don’t think I’m devious enough to be a property magnate.
Simple pleasures are often the best and I really relish time with both my husband and daughter, and no interruptions from the outside world. Monday will come soon enough with all the rush and responsibility of life in the 21st Century. But for now, an old-fashioned nursery tea is enough to keep my family happy. And we weren’t the only lazy ones today…

That sounds just perfect. Now I feel like making a cinnamon bread too! Now the kids are old enough to get themselves up lazy weekend mornings are our favourite thing – I’m still in my dressing gown at 10.30, though I’ve promised to do a Sunday Roast so I’ll have to get into gear soon.
Our middle daughter always manages to buy the most property in Monopoly, but we never play to the end, usually losing interest once all the property has been bought. We’ve got the South African set, with Plettenberg Bay and Franschoek on.
Your cats look so like two of ours, black and white and somnolent.
Thank you for sharing your perfect and relaxing day with us. My Sunday will not be so charmed as I have been procratinating all week!! Much to do..about nothing.
I could picture you all lazying around over that yummy looking bread, tea and monopoly! Lovely Sunday and good for you enjoying every minute of it!
Kit, I saw a kids version the other day where you don’t buy hotels you set up lemonade stalls. I thought that was a great idea.
The cats are our next door neighbours’ who got cold when they were locked out so snuggled up on my daughter’s jacket that was neatly hung on the floor.
Valli and Jeni, it was a perfect lazy day, but now back to the grindstone
Oh, I want some of that bread! SOunds like a glorious day in. THe older I get, the more I relish Sundays where I don’t have to leave the hosue – very sad! And whereas Friday used to be the big going out night of the week, now I hope fervently that nobody invites me anywhere on a Friday so I can just stay home
Love the pic of your lazy kitties too. Nobody does lazy like a cat!
Kit – the SA Monopoly board sounds fab! Bizarrely, I learned to play on the English board with Old Kent Road & The Strand & Park Lane. We are certainly living mirror-image lives
Jeanne, if you’re a lazy breadmaker this one perfectly fits the bill. A very high reward to work ratio. The best things about the lazy kitties is they don’t even live here. They belong to my next door neighbour and just stopped by for a second breakfast and a quick snooze.
I also learnt to play M on an English board and was quite surprised when I went to buy my nephew one in Cape Town that it was all South African.
