Apples & Thyme #2

Yep, it’s true. We’re doing it again. Why? Well, about ten days into the first Apples & Thyme event last month, it became clear to Jeni and I that this was an event that touched a huge amount of people. We had a fantastic response, not just in numbers, but in the raw emotional honesty of the posts, and the high quality of recipes and memories which came pouring in.

For those of you who’ve read about it, or who entered last month, Apples & Thyme is a celebration of time in the kitchen with mothers and grandmothers (or anyone else you wish to blog about). The rules aren’t that strenuous – we just want to collect stories of kitchens and the women (or men) who moulded how you view your own kitchen. To many of us this tradition of passing on knowledge, tips and advice from mother to daughter is the sourdough starter of our lives. It has to be fed, loved and nurtured if it is to survive and flourish so that it can sustain the next generation.apples-thyme-logo-br.jpg

So if you have stories of wise women, tears or laughter, along with a healthy helping of food, send us your entries. You can mail them to me africanvanielje@vanielje.com or to my co-host The Passionate Palate. Please include the words Apples & Thyme in your heading (and your email subject line), link back to one of our posts, send us the link to your post and/or blog, and a small thumbnail pic of the person or the dish you have blogged about. Entries in around 10th(ish) of December, the roundup will be out on 15th.

Feel free to give your stories a christmas flavour if you wish. I’m looking forward to this month’s entries. Also feel free to copy this thumbnail to post on your blog.

If you want to catch up on what you missed, the roundup is here. Don’t forget to link through to Jeni for the second half.

I’m glad you’re doing this again.

I was going to enter last time but have been on a blog go-slow, as I try to fit work and time with the kids and baking into my days. I’ll definitely do one with a Christmas theme this time.

Ladies, glad you’re in. The point of this is to enjoy, and to get our memories down for future generations. A lot of people post articles that are halfway there anyway, and we’re happy to link them in, even if you have a memory without a recipe.
